pandemicDory day 7

Bonding the two 3/4" pieces of meranti plywood to make the transom a bit thicker. The one I ripped out was 3/4". I am replacing with 1'1/2". Each piece has two coats of 105/207 epoxy resin. I bonded them today using a mix of 105/207 w/ colloidal silica after wetting with a thin coat of 105/207.

pandemicDory day 6

Made some progress with the transom today. I used foam board and a piece of test plywood for a template. Once I had the template made I cut two 3/4" pieces of Meranti plywood. They are both curing with 105/207 West Systems Epoxy Resin. I will flip them over to do the other side next and probably end up using multiple coats.

pandemicDory day 5

More cleanup work today. I made good progress on the hull. I'll spend the next few days cleaning up the transom skin and preparing for new meranti plywood flooring and transom.

pandemicDory day 4

Continued sanding and removing old floor. Cleaned the bow a bit more. Removed some epoxy with a heat gun and acetone. I accidentally knocked 4 baby birds out of their nest while trying to drop a hornet's nest. The 4 birds landed in the boat. They couldn't fly yet. I put them back in their nest. Felt bad....BLM Bird Lives Matter.

pandemicDory day 3

Continuation of floor/bow/transom removal...all of the wood under the floor is completely rotten and wet all the way up to the tip of the bow. Also removed some of the bench supports. Burned some of the pieces in a barrel. I poked a hole in the transom, not too bad but it sucked. We found a turtle walking around in the weeds and shrubs in the back yard. It was certainly lost. Tianna and I brought it to Brickyard brook. TLM  - Turtle Lives Matter.
